Program Info

Students enrolled in the English Education program leading to teacher certification in grades 8-12 receive broad and in-depth preparation in literature, linguistics, and writing and participate in hands-on methods classes that provide real classroom experience for pre-service teachers. 

Resources for Area of Concentration in ENGLISH (teaching 8-12)
The English Education Center is a media resource center and technology laboratory for teacher preparation and professional development. Undergraduate candidates in secondary English use the center for research, methods class assignments, and lesson preparation for field experience teaching. Student teachers meet at the EEC for on-campus seminars during their clinical semester and take advantage of the many resources for teaching preparation and portfolio development. The Center also hosts professional development workshops and collaborative activities for area English teachers.

English Education

In addition to a career in grades 8 12 teaching, the program is a gateway for any number of career options, such as Creative Arts, Law, Public Relations, and Publishing.
