     Much more than a dean

Students may be forced to redefine what a “dean” is when they meet Kevin Koett. The Assistant Vice President/Dean of Students at Morehead State University may be responsible for enforcing the student conduct code, but he does much more to make students’ experience at MSU more enjoyable and successful.

Dean Koett uses his 25 years of experience as a student life professional to advocate for students, listen to thoughts from the campus community and provide students with direct and indirect assistance to address a wide variety of issues and concerns.

Since May 2005, Dean Koett has prided himself on having a sincere passion for MSU students. He is engaged in life on campus, cheering for student-athletes at sporting events, attending MSU concerts and theatrical productions and helping student organizations with their philanthropic activities.

“Students work hard on a daily basis to make MSU a special institution,” Koett said. “It is important to appreciate their efforts, and the student body energizes and motivates me to keep working hard on their behalf.”

Dean Koett is a dedicated husband and family man to his wife (Meg) and children (daughter, Jessie, and son, Mac). Koett hopes that being a “real person” and making an effort to connect with students will help breakdown stereotypes that may exist about his position.

“I want students to know they can come to me to discuss anything that is on their mind in a safe and comfortable environment and I will help them in any way possible,” Koett said.
