Diversity Scholarship

Minimum criteria for consideration:

  1. Be admitted to MSU as an entering freshman or a transfer student; and
  2. Have an ethnic background of African American, Hispanic, American Indian or Alaskan native, Asian, or Pacific Islander.
  3. Be a legal resident of Kentucky; and
  4. Have a minimum ACT composite score of 18; and
  5. Agree to maintain continuous residency in campus housing.

Criteria for renewal:

Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.

NOTE: May be awarded in addition to other scholarships.

Additional scholarships are offered through the Office of Financial Aid.


 

Graduate Assistantships

African-American Graduate Assistantships

Students who are African-American Kentucky residents may qualify for the African-American GA.  You must be unconditionally admitted to a graduate degree program, enroll as a full-time student in 500-600 level courses, and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA.  The assistantship will provide a stipend of $6,000 for the academic year, a full waiver of tuition, and free University housing.  The housing rate is based on a double occupancy room in Fields Hall.  Qualified students are eligible to receive a graduate assistantship for two years while completing a graduate degree.  (Please refer to the guidelines for GAs in the Graduate Catalog.)

 

The Charles Rhodes Endowment for Science Fellowships

This endowment is available as a supplement to a graduate assistantship for an African-American student in the biological sciences. You must be unconditionally admitted to a graduate degree program, enroll as a full-time student in 500-600 level courses, and maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA. With the supplemental money the GA stipend will be $8,000 per academic year. Graduate Assistant applications are available in the Office of Graduate Programs, Ginger Hall 701.
