  • Service Saturdays (September/October).  This program is a part of the LEAD Program curriculum and is an effort to plan, develop, implement and evaluate a community service project addressing a genuine community service need in each of the twenty two counties within MSU's service region.  The purposes of this program are to encourage our students to expand their service reach beyond Morehead and Rowan County.  Our partners are First Year Programs (FYP), Student Activities Center, The LEAD Program, and the CRE.  Staff Contact:  Randy Manis.
  • Make A Difference Day (October).  America's largest day of doing good, Make A Difference Day, is the fourth Saturday in October.  For more information on the national program, visit http://usaweekend.com/diffday/.  Staff Contact:  TBA.
  • MLK Jr. Day of Service (January).  "Make it a day on, not a day off!" During the 1950's and '60s, civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. recognized the power of service to strengthen communities and achieve common goals.  Initiated by Congress in 1994, King Day of Service builds on that legacy by transforming the federal holiday honoring Dr. King into a national day of community service grounded in his teachings of nonviolence and social justice.  The aim is to make the holiday a day ON, where people of all ages and backgrounds come together to improve lives, bridge social barriers, and move our nation closer to the "Beloved Community" that Dr. King envisioned.  For more information on the national program, visit http://www.mlkday.gov/.  For information specific to MSU's MLK Jr. Day of Service visit http://www.moreheadstate.edu/msucorps/index.aspx?id=31590.  Staff Contact:  TBA.
  • Spring Break Spring Back (SBSB) (March).  MSU offers alternative spring break experiences ranging from cleanup and rebuilding after Hurricane Katrina to refurbishing the classic auditorium and the small traditional gymnasium at the Hazel Green Academy in Wolfe County to helping with a Habitat build.  For more information, visit http://moreheadstate.edu/springbreak/. • Repair Affair (April).  The Morehead-Rowan County Repair Affair (MRCRA) is a community wide initiative that will address the minor repair needs of low-income, elderly, and disabled homeowners in Morehead and Rowan County.  Approximately twenty (20) homes will be selected from applications to receive safety, security, or energy efficient improvements such as paint, door repair, window replacement, power wash, gutter and/or roof repair and other services.  Repairs will also include installing wheelchair ramps or railing for elderly or persons with a disability to make housing more accessible.  The Morehead-Rowan County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Academy, in conjunction with Frontier Housing and the MSU Center for Regional Engagement, are the project partners for this initiative.  For more information, visit http://www.moreheadstate.edu/mrcra/.  Staff Contact:  Randy Manis.
