K-12 Education

Teach Earth and Space Science students at outcrop

Our program has a teaching option that certifies graduates to teach earth and space science in grades 8-12 (see Programs).

M.A. in Teaching

Are you ready for a career change? Did you decide to pursue teaching after completing your science degree? We support MSU’s MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) program. The MAT in Earth and Space Science Teaching is an alternative certification program designed for persons who already have a degree in geology, meteorology, astronomy, oceanography, or another closely related field. You must meet admission and other requirements for the MAT and pass the PRAXIS II exam in earth and space science.

The exceptional educational foundation provided by Morehead State has allowed me and others in my graduating class the opportunity to have highly successful careers in the competitive environmental engineering industry. Firms with which MSU Geology graduates in my class have been employed comprise some of the largest environmental engineering firms in the world, including Bechtel National, Shaw Group Inc., Jacobs Engineering, Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), and AMEC. I would highly recommend the MSU Geology program to anyone interested in a career in the environmental industry.
