Purpose of MSU 101
MSU 101 – Discovering University Life is a required course for all entering freshmen and transfer students with less than 24 credit hours. All students take this course during their first semester of enrollment. MSU 101 is a one credit hours, graded course which counts toward graduation.

MSU 101 Facts
- Established in 1986, MSU was among the first universities in the country to offer this type of course.
- Sixty sections of MSU 101 are offered each fall semester.
- Approximately 1,600 students enroll in MSU 101 each academic year.
- A Peer Advisor is assigned to each course. PAs assist the instructor in presenting topics and working with new students.
- Every student receives an Eagle Planner and is trained in how to effectively use a planner.
- All faculty and professional staff who teach the course are trained each year.
