Programs

Our department offers exciting programs of study that will enable you to understand the historical, philosophic, religious and legal worlds in which you live.  At the Programs link above you will find information on our History, Philosophy, Religion, Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, and Social Studies programs.

You may join one of our programs with an interdisciplinary minor in Appalachian Studies, International Studies, or Women's Studies. If you plan to attend law school, you may prepare by choosing a History, or Paralegal Studies major, or a Legal Studies minor. At the Programs link above, you will find information on all these programs.

Faculty

Our History, Philosophy and Religion faculty all hold Ph.D.s in their respective disciplines; and all the Legal Studies and Paralegal Studies faculty have law degrees. They are known for their small classes, their use of active learning methods, and their engaging students in career-oriented activities outside the classroom.  

Our faculty are actively involved in service to the eastern Kentucky region and engaged in a variety of research projects statewide, nationally, and overseas. They participate in study abroad programs and prepare students to participate in those programs and in state, national, and international internship programs. Student Organizations 

Our students participate in campus, state, and national organizations related to their study of geography, government, history, and law. At the Student Organizations link above, you will find information on their membership requirements and activities.

Internships and Study Abroad Programs
