FACULTY FOR THE FUTURE
Teaching/Research Fellowship Program
In order to provide for a more diversified faculty on their respective campuses, the
University of Louisville, the University of Kentucky and Morehead State University
jointly sponsor a fellowship program for African-Americans to prepare future faculty for
potential employment at the home institution. Recipients of these fellowships will be
supported financially by both universities during their program of doctoral studies at the
University of Louisville or the University of Kentucky.
Academic year fellowship awards (nine months) will vary in the amount of stipend, according to competitive stipend levels within the discipline. Stipends will range from $12,000 to $18,000 plus tuition. Fellowship recipients will be expected to undertake instructional duties not to exceed the equivalent of 10 hours per week or the concomitant equivalent of supervised research activities. Recipients may accept additional institutional support from other sources during the summer months; however, institutional awards of other teaching or research assistantships to fellowship holders are not permitted during the regular academic year.
Qualifications:
Must hold a bachelor's or master's degree from the home institution (UK, UL, or MSU)…… the master's is preferred from MSU.
Secure nomination from home institution
Must meet all requirements for admission to a doctoral program at the host institution. (UK or UL)
