Homecoming Schedule October 2-4, 2014

Thursday, October 2

MSU Homecoming Parade (Main Street) 6 p.m.

Take part in a long standing Homecoming tradition! Bring the entire family and find a spot along Main Street.  Parade attendees will enjoy floats, balloons and the marching band, as well as a variety of exciting special entries.  Campus and community groups interested in parade entry should call 606-783-2863 or email cngilliam@moreheadstate.edu. Prizes for the best campus and community entries will be awarded! 

Nearly Naked Mile (ADUC) Registration 8:30 p.m.

Donate a coat and "run in your skivvies"!  The “Nearly Naked Mile”, presented by the Student Alumni Ambassadors, is a coat drive for families in the Morehead community. Faculty, staff, students and community members are encouraged to participate donate new or unwanted coats, which will be given to Rowan County Family Resource Center for distribution.  Clothing is required to participate. Participants can come dressed in costume or comfortable running clothes. Popcorn and plenty of water will be provided.

Blue and Gold Day

Show your MSU Pride by wearing Blue and Gold!  By the way, the Alumni Association encourages you to celebrate Blue and Gold day every Friday.  So don’t forget to stock up on your MSU gear at the University Bookstore!

Alumni Association Welcome Table (Adron Doran University Center),         10 a.m – 6 p.m.

Stop by the welcome table and meet YOUR Alumni Association staff.   Check and/or update your alumni information, register for a door prize and pick up the latest alumni gifts. 

Memorial Brick Ceremony (Little Bell Tower Memorial Plaza) 10:30 a.m.

Join the Morehead State community to honor the years of faithful service given by deceased faculty and staff. Former faculty and staff who passed away during the last year will be recognized. The public is invited, and we extend a special invitation to the families and friends of honorees.  A list of honorees is available at www.moreheadstate.edu/memorialbricks. Class of 1964 50th Reunion Luncheon (Heritage Room, ADUC), Noon

Join classmates and the University President to celebrate your 50th Reunion.  Advanced reservations required.  Reunion attendees are hosted by the Alumni Association.  Guests tickets available for $15 each.  Register online here. MSU Alumni Association Welcome Reception (3rd Floor, ADUC), 5-7p.m.

Start your homecoming weekend off with a warm welcome from the Alumni Association at the annual Alumni Reception. The reception will take place in the Adron Doran University Center.  Admission is complimentary and includes wine and light appetizers. Register online here

Homecoming Kickoff Celebration (Buffalo Wild Wings) 7 p.m.

Mingle with classmates, reconnect, and enjoy all Buffalo Wild Wings has to offer!  An outdoor area will be open for additional mingling space.  DJ Music provided by JWagner Entertainment Group.

Undergraduate Admission Information Session (Location TBA), 10 a.m.

Work with the Office of Enrollment Services to gain extensive advice about the college search and selection process and hear about all the great things MSU has to offer. This event is geared towards alumni with high school-aged children. Eagle Football (Jayne Stadium), 1 p.m.

Fill the stands at Jayne Stadium and cheer on the Football Eagles as they take on Campbell.  As traditions stand, the presentation of the 2014 Homecoming Court will be announced and the Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned at Halftime.  Tickets to the football game can be at the ticket window at Jayne Stadium on game day.  Advance ticket purchases can be made by calling 877-690-4483 or emailing events@moreheadstate.edu or by visiting MSU Athletics website at http://www.msueagles.com/sports/2012/6/19/GEN_0619124922.aspx

Baseball Alumni Reunion, 12 p.m.

Baseball Alumni will gather at noon for a tailgate and enjoy the football action from inside the baseball stadium. Bring your chair and pack your cooler! Please RSVP by calling 606-783-2033 or register online. An Alumni baseball game will take place immediately following the football game.

Star Theatre Show (Smith-Booth Hall/Space Science Center), 10a.m and 11a.m.

Visit MSU’s 110-seat digital theater that projects video and graphics on a 40-foot dome screen using six digital projectors and state-of-the-art surround sound.

Homecoming Worship Service hosted by the Black Gospel Ensemble 10 a.m.

Location TBD

MSU’s Black Gospel Ensemble and its partner campus ministry groups invite the campus community, alumni and students to a worship service to culminate Homecoming weekend.  MSU Alumni, Rev. Dr. Felix Williams (73), Senior Pastor of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Lexington, Kentucky, will bring the message.  The MSU Black Gospel Ensemble will perform.  A special offering will support the BGE’s 2014-2015 competition travel.

The Bookstore will also offer a limited selection at a booth near the entrance to Jayne Stadium before the football game on Saturday. 

Recreation and Wellness Center 

Enjoy the state of the art Recreation & Wellness Center for free!  All Homecoming participants will enjoy a complimentary guest pass for the weekend.  Take advantage of this 24 million dollar facility that was 100% student funded. It merges the aquatics, fitness and wellness, and intramural departments. The 100,000 square foot building houses 3 basketball courts, a competition size pool with zipline and vortex, fitness area complete with various types of workout equipment, walking track, racquetball courts, and locker rooms.  http://www.moreheadstate.edu/campusrec/

The Kentucky Folk Art Center (102 West First Street) 

KFAC houses a permanent collection of nearly 1,400 pieces of self-taught art.KFAC is a cultural, educational and economic development service of Morehead State University.  Admission is free.  Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. http://www.moreheadstate.edu/kfac/

Eagle Trace Golf Course (1275 Eagle Dr, Morehead) 

Eagle Trace is a gently rolling, beautifully wooded public 18 hole golf course designed to challenge the skills of the most seasoned players, yet enjoyable and playable to all golfers. 5:30 p.m. Reunion Dinner in the Indoor Arena (Advanced Reservations Required - $15 per person)

Agricultural Sciences Alumni are invited to reconnect and learn about exciting things happening with the program.  The MSU Collegiate FFA Chapter will host a Silent Auction.  Comments from university leaders and special recognition will take place during dinner.  The evening agenda will include a special remembrance of Mike Padula.

Football Alumni Special Events
