Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA)
High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) and Consumer Driven Health Plan (CDHP) participants are provided with a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) account totally funded by the University. HRA funds can be used to pay for any service or item covered by IRC Section 213, which are the same services and items covered by a medical Flexible Spending Account (FSA).
You do not have to sign up for a HRA. You are only eligible for a HRA if you participate in MSU’s HDHP or CDHP health insurance plans and as such, are automatically enrolled in the HRA. The HRA is funded by MSU as follows:
Single—$650
2-Person—$1,150
Family—$1,150
2-Person H&W—$1,300
Family H&W—$1,300
A change for 2010 is the HRA contributions will be added to your account semimonthly, thus 1/24 of the annual contribution will be deposited to your account each pay period. Funds for filing claims will only be available as deposited.
American Administrators will be the new HRA administrator effective January 1, 2010.
