We strive for program excellence through continuously improving our curricula and laboratories to ensure that they are tied to the contemporary needs of education, industry, and business. All IET programs are applied technology-based with the majority of courses providing quality experiences in our state-of-the-art laboratories. Our industrial technology program/options is accredited by the National Association of Industrial Technology (NAIT).

Our faculty members are experts in their discipline and they stay current in their fields through conducting scholarly research and continually engaging in professional development activities. The IET department's primary purpose is to prepare advanced technology/engineering management graduates and contribute to the economic development of the region.

Our graduates are well prepared for careers in their respective fields. They are prepared to enter into wide ranges of positions in industry, business, education and government. Systematic alumni surveys indicate excellent placement rates of IET graduates with local/regional/national industry and businesses.

The department of Industrial and Engineering Technology has a vision to satisfy that desire and need - to be an educational leader in industrial technology and industrial education, committed to the lifelong learning and professional needs of MSU constituents.

We engage our diverse Industrial and Engineering Technology department in the study of technology to cultivate and expand student potential. Through collaborative efforts, we strive to develop professionals and leaders who are technically competent, innovative in problem solving, and skillful in management of personnel and facilities.

The goals of the IET department are:

  • To prepare exemplary problem solvers for professional leadership roles through academic and field-based experiences.
  • To provide and support an environment conducive to research and development and the dissemination of technological knowledge and innovation.
  • To provide professional development and service opportunities to meet society's every-changing technological needs.
  • To dynamically influence economic development within the university's service region.

We believe that our mission and goals will provide the guidance necessary for the curriculum, outreach, and growth initiative of the department. The IET department will continue to improve and grow in order to accomplish its primary mission of serving the citizens of the university's service region by developing competent industrial technologists that are the key to economic development and effective use of resources.
