Design and Manufacturing Engineering Technology

Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology

The Department of Applied Engineering and Technology (AET) has earned accreditation of its Engineering Technology Program by the Association of Technology, Management and Applied Engineering (ATMAE). Program options are revised frequently with input from industrial and educational partners on the AET Advisory Board.

The Engineering Technology Program offers curriculum for students to obtain a Bachelor of Science Degree (BS) or a Master of Science Degree (MSET) with emphasis on any one of the options shown in the left column. Each degree requires the student to complete a specific number of credit hours in general education courses plus core and technical option requirements.

General requirements for a baccalaureate degree at Morehead State University (MSU) are listed below.

For more information concerning requirements for graduation, see the MSU Undergraduate and Graduate Catalogs.

Baccalaureate Degree General Requirements

A student will receive an baccalaureate degree after the student has:

  1. Complete a minimum of 120 semester hours of prescribed and elective college credit, 43 semester hours of which must be courses numbered 200 or above. See the "Suggested Course Sequence" for a specific program option for prescribed program requirements of the Industrial and Engineering Technology (IET) Programs.
  2. Earn a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) on all work completed at the University and on all work completed to satisfy area of concentration or major and minor requirements. (Note: IET Programs require that a student obtain a grade of "C" in all technical and supplemental courses.)
  3. Complete an area of concentration of no fewer than 48 semester hours or a major of no fewer than 30 semester hours and a minor of no fewer than 21 semester hours. (These are minimum requirements. You may also elect to satisfy two majors or a major and more than one minor.)

4.

Complete at least 32 semester hours at Morehead State University, with the last 16 hours preceding graduation earned from MSU. Correspondence courses do not satisfy this requirement. Fifty percent of the hours required for the major or area of concentration must be credit earned at Morehead state University. Exceptions may be mad with permission of the dean of the college in which the major or area of concentration is granted.

  5. Bachelor of Science degree candidates must complete a minimum of 60 semester hours in science or science related fields.
  6. Complete 48 semester hours of general education courses. Some degree programs require specific courses within each general education category. Please refer to your program for detailed course information. See the current MSU Undergraduate catalog for a list of general education courses.
  7. Complete a one credit hour MSU 101: Discovering University Life course during the student's first semester if the student begins as a freshman or transfers to MSU with less than 24 credit hours.
  8. A bachelor's degree and an associate's degree may be applied for at the same degree date. However, no more than one bachelor's and one associate's degree will be awarded at the same date. A student may not apply for an AA degree once qualified for the bachelor's degree.

NOTE:  The information above is superseded by any changes found in the most current MSU Undergraduate Catalog.
