Dr. Jennifer Brimson Cooper, Assistant Professor, Flute

Dr. Jennifer Brimson Cooper has performed internationally in England, Ireland, Canada, Brazil, Austria and across the U.S., with solo appearances with the Brott Music Festival Orchestra, MusicX festival, Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Orchestra, Wilfrid Laurier Symphony, and as flutist with the National Academy Orchestra of Canada and Orchestre de la Francophonie Canadienne. She is a laureate of many competitions including the William C. Byrd Young Artist, Gilbert/Feld Prize for Woodwind Duo (RNCM), the Elora Festival, Claude Monteaux Flute Competition, and the Cincinnati Flute Symposium. As a performer and clinician, she has presented at conferences for the National Flute Association, Florida Flute Association, Flute Society of Kentucky, Kentucky Music Teachers’ Association (KMEA), Canadian Universities Music Society (CUMS), Mid-South Flute Association, North American Saxophone Alliance, World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE), Guitar Festival of Ireland, and directs an annual All-State flute clinic for Kentucky high school flutists. In addition to flute and saxophone duo, Awea Duo, Cooper performs as flutist with the Baird Winds woodwind quintet, as principal flute of the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra, and has recorded CD's of Canadian flute octets (2007), flute quartets (2010), and flute duos (2013). Dr. Cooper received her doctoral degree from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, MMus with high distinction from the Royal Northern College of Music, U.K., and BMus from Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario. She serves as Assistant Professor of Flute and Music History at Morehead State University, KY. She has taught at the Lutheran Summer Music Academy and as part of the KIIS international consortium in Salzburg, Austria.
