KCTM Student Bands

The Kentucky Center for Traditional Music offers all Morehead State University students the opportunity to participate in their student bands. Each band’s members will be determined through an audition process at the beginning of each Fall semester. The KCTM Bands will be active on MSU’s campus and in the community of Morehead as well as performing in the region and beyond. Each group will meet weekly with their coach for practice sessions.

KCTM Student Groups:
The KCTM Bluegrass Band is open to instrumentalists and vocalists wanting to develop their skills in a bluegrass ensemble setting. This includes bluegrass group vocal harmony styles and instrumental practices. The KCTM Bluegrass Band is coached by Don Rigsby.

The KCTM Old Time String Band is open to instrumentalists and vocalists studying the regional styles and practices of traditional Appalachian music. The group will focus on small ensemble fiddle and banjo tune playing as well as solo, duet and trio vocal settings. The KCTM Old Time String Band is coached by Jesse Wells.
