MSU, the Kentucky Department of Education, and the National Child Assault Prevention (NCAP) have joined together to fight child abuse and bullying in eastern Kentucky. NCAP is an international program that is currently being delivered in 26 states and 11 countries. This not-for-profit organization is committed to the idea of battling abuse and neglect through educating its participants: children, teachers, faculty, staff and parents. Using a three-part curriculum, NCAP looks to put an end to the abuse and neglect of children, our most vulnerable citizens. The Kentucky chapter of NCAP, Kentucky Child Assault Prevention, currently focuses on school children in kindergarten through sixth grade, but can be extended to both pre-school children and children through ages 18 with additional funding.
The main office is housed in Louisa, Kentucky and the lead teacher and administrator of the project is Kathy Hinkle. Dr. Wayne Willis is MSU’s project director for the program. MSU students training to be teachers often assist in teaching the lessons to children in the field.
