Cataloging

The Cataloging Department maintains the bibliographic records of the Library's holdings in the online catalog. WorldCat, a global library resource database, is utilized to obtain records for the online catalog and to create and contribute original records to the WorldCat database. The Cataloging Department is also responsible for keeping Camden Carroll Library holdings up to date in the WorldCat database.

When new Library materials (books, dvds, etc.) are received, those materials are sent to the Cataloging Department for processing. Cataloging staff assign a call number and enter a record in the online catalog for each item, which is then labeled and delivered to the Library shelves for public use.
