Making a Difference in Just One Day!
What is Repair Affair?
The second annual Morehead-Rowan County Repair Affair (MRCRA) is a community-wide initiative that will address the minor repair needs of low-income, elderly, and disabled homeowners in Morehead and Rowan County.
Approximately thirty (30) homes will be selected from applications to receive safety, security, or energy efficient improvements such as paint, door repair, window replacement, power wash, gutter and/or roof repair and other services. Repairs will also include installing wheelchair ramps or railing for elderly or for persons with a disability to make housing more accessible.
The Morehead-Rowan County Chamber of Commerce Leadership Academy, in conjunction with Frontier Housing and the Center for Regional Engagement at Morehead State University, are the project partners for this initiative.
The event will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010 beginning at 8 AM at the City Park.
"Give a Day. Get a Disney Day." UPDATE
The "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day." program is now officially over. Disney was able to reach its goal of one million volunteers nationwide. You can no longer register for the free theme park ticket, but you can still continue to give back to your community by locating volunteer opportunities through the HandsOn Network at www.handsonnetwork.org or by visiting the Morehead State University Center for Regional Engagement's website at www.moreheadstate.edu/engagement.
