 National Heritage Months

Black History Month


Black History Month was established in 1926 to celebrate and recognize the contributions and past achievements of African Americans to society.   Black History Month is celebrated during the month of February.

Native American Heritage Month

Native American Heritage Month was established in 1990 to celebrate and educate society about the history and culture of Native Americans.  Native American Heritage Month is celebrated during the month of November.

Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15-October 15 in an effort to recognize the culture and contributions of the Hispanic Americans to society.

Women's History Month


Women's History Month was established to celebrate the contributions of women.  An expansion of National Women's Week, Women's History Month was established in 1987 and celebrated during the month of March.
