Social networking
has encouraged new ways to communicate and share information. These social networking sites focus on
building online communities of people who share interests and/or activities, or
who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others. Social networking websites are being used
regularly by millions of people, and it now seems that social networking will
be an enduring part of everyday life.
We have decided to join the
ranks of millions of other programs in effort to develop a support community
for all of the MSUCorps/Promise Corps volunteers in the Eastern Kentucky area.
Present members, alumni, and site supervisors are highly encouraged to join
this group. Through this group, we
hope to find out more about the other projects that AmeriCorps volunteers work
on, develop and pursue networking opportunities, and share important
information about methods of service, after-service plans, education awards,
etc. Hopefully, through efforts such
as this, more MSUCorps/Promise Corps Alums will be on the same page and will
collaborate together to further better our communities.
Also with this group, we hope
to encourage relationships with the different non profit organizations, schools
and other community programs that we work with. This is just one step in creating a community of MSUCorps/Promise
Corps volunteers. We hope this will provide an opportunity to
meet many other people working towards the same goals as well as provide
opportunities to work alongside other dynamic organizations.
By
signing on to this group, you will be showing support for this opportunity and
will help us in providing it. We strongly urge you to invite any other AmeriCorps
volunteers or alumni you know of to join this group; this will start the
community building process. Once you sign up, feel free to discuss any topics
related to AmeriCorps get-togethers, networking opportunities, job education, and
after-service information.
