Morehead State University delivers a strong and affordable education for friendly, ambitious students who thrive in a student-focused learning environment defined by small class sizes and faculty committed to teaching and student success.
Morehead State University delivers quality academic programs. Nearly 100 degree programs are available on the two-year, four-year and graduate levels. Our alumni are accepted into professional programs (like medicine, law, veterinary science, etc.) at rates above state and national averages. We are ranked as one of the top public universities in the South by U.S.News & World Report and boast one of five space science programs in the country. Whatever your interest, Morehead State can help you achieve your dream.
More than 80 percent of our students receive some form of financial aid. Take a moment and read that first sentence again. At MSU, we are committed to keeping a quality, higher education affordable for our students. We offer one of the more affordable tuition prices in Kentucky (compared to schools of all sizes). We are a great value for both in-state and out-of-state students. Questions about financial aid? Visit www.moreheadstate.edu/finaid/.
At MSU, you are more than just a number. We’re friendly and down-to-earth. Faculty and staff know students by name. With a 16-1 student/faculty ratio, you’ll get more personal attention and have more access to your professors. Don’t want to be just another face in a huge lecture hall? More than 75 percent of our classes have fewer than 20 students.
MSU is recognized by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as an Institution of Community Engagement, an honor given to fewer than 100 schools nationally. There are more opportunities for students to be engaged both in and out of the classroom. Our undergraduate fellowship program offers students the chance to work with faculty members on research projects as early as their freshman year! You won’t find that opportunity at many universities. Interested in community service? Our Center for Regional Engagement connects students with volunteer and service learning opportunities.
With more than 100 clubs and organizations, MSU offers much more for you to get involved in as a student. Nearly 15 percent of the student body participates in Greek life, and we have a very active Student Government Association, Student Programming Board, Student Alumni Ambassador, visual and performing arts and intramural programs. Campus features include Eagle Lake, a 30-acre body of water with hiking trails, and in Spring 2011, we will open our Student Recreation & Wellness Center with a climbing wall, fitness areas, swimming pool, sun deck, and more! Nearby, you will find Cave Run Lake where you can fish, boat, swim, or just enjoy the beauty of the surrounding Daniel Boone National Forest.
Go Eagles! We are a charter member of the Ohio Valley Conference in NCAA Division I. MSU sponsors 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women, and in football, competes in the Pioneer Football League. Our cheerleaders have won more championships than any university in the country. MSU Athletics has won the OVC’s Institutional Academic Achievement award 10 times. Did we mention Phil Simms (football), Josh Teater (golf), and Kelly Kulick (bowling) were all Eagles? For more info about athletics, visit www.msueagles.com.
More than 55,000 people call MSU their alma mater. But to Eagle alumni, MSU is much more than that. It’s an experience of a lifetime. It’s an education that takes you to and beyond what you hoped to achieve. It’s making lifelong friends. It’s sincere, caring faculty and staff that take an interest in you as an individual. It’s the memory of watching your team in the NCAA tournament. Our alumni tell the MSU story proudly and give back to the institution. We have graduates in every profession from an NFL Super Bowl MVP to state legislators to broadcasters to teachers of the year. Being an Eagle is something special. Once you’re on campus, we know you’ll feel it, too.
