Biography
Susan D. Creasap is Associate Director of Bands at Morehead State University where she is the Director of the University Marching Band, Concert Band and Associate Professor of Music Education. She earned her Doctor of Arts in Wind Band Conducting from Ball State University, Master of Arts in Music Education from the University of Minnesota, and Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She has taught in the public schools of Pennsylvania and Tennessee, and was Director of Bands at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Her Colonial Junior High School Symphonic Band in Memphis, Tennessee, received regional and national awards, culminating in the William D. Revelli Outstanding Concert Band Award, presented at the prestigious Festivals of Music in St. Louis, Missouri in 1992 by Dr. Revelli.

Dr. Creasap was named 2004 College/University Teacher of the Year by the Kentucky Music Educators Association. She has been awarded the Women Band Directors International's "Silver Baton" for having bands of a high performance level and for her outstanding contributions to the improvement of bands in America. She is a member of the Jury Committee of the Sudler Flag of Honor with the John Philip Sousa Foundation. Among her other honors, Dr. Creasap has been awarded a National Band Association "Citation of Excellence,” the Tennessee Bandmasters Association's "Award of Excellence," and was selected for membership in Pi Kappa Lambda Honorary Music Fraternity. Ball State University's School of Music selected her dissertation, “American Women Composers of Band Music: A Bibliography and Catalog of Works,” as its outstanding dissertation of 1996. Dr Creasap is a Research Associate for the acclaimed Teaching Music Through Performance in Band series and is a contributor to numerous professional publications. She is President of District 8 of the Kentucky Music Educators Association, Kentucky Chair of the College Band Directors National Association, a Past President of Women Band Directors International, manager of the National Band Association Mentor Project, and holds professional memberships in Music Educators National Conference, National Band Association, Phi Beta Mu, Delta Omicron, and is faculty advisor of the MSU Chapter of the College Music Educators National Conference. She is an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma. Dr. Creasap is active throughout the United States as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician.
