Biography
Larry Keenan is a Professor of Music at Morehead State University, Morehead, KY, where he has been teaching on all types of keyboards since 1967. He received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Louisville, a Master of Music degree from Indiana University, and did doctoral course work at the University of Cincinnati. Keenan is active in University governence and has served as Chair of the Morehead State University Faculty Senate as well as chair of numerous other major University committees.

Keenan has won nineteen keyboard competitions; was a participant in the International Van Cliburn Piano Competition; and was a National First Runner-up in the National Federation of Music Clubs Young Artist Competition. He was also the National Champion in the Professional Organist Division of the Yamaha Electone Organ Festival and represented the United States at the International Festival in Japan with his original composition and improvisations. He has also since served as a National and Regional Judge for the Yamaha Electone Festival and currently serves as an educational and performing consultant for the Yamaha Corporation in the Clavinova and portable keyboard areas.

Keenan is a Past-President of the Kentucky Music Teachers Association, having previously served as First Vice-President and as a State Piano Chairman. He has twice performed as the KMTA State Convention Recitalist as well as serving as Conductor for the All-State Piano Ensemble and as keyboard clinician/artist at their 2001 and 2002 State Conventions. Keenan also performed as an electronic keyboard soloist at the National Convention of the Music Teachers National Association in 2001. He has also performed as the State Convention Recitalist and as the State Chairman for Universities and Colleges for the Kentucky Federation of Music Clubs.

Mr. Keenan was Organist and Associate Music Director for The Stephen Foster Story in historic Bardstown, KY for thirty-four seasons, where he performed over 2800 shows as solo keyboardist on the Drama keyboards. He still serves as accompanist for its promotional group The Stephen Foster Story Singers. He has been a church organist since age eleven and currently serves as organist for the Morehead United Methodist Church and as keyboardist for his home church, the Seventh Day Church of God in Lexington, KY. He maintains an active performing schedule on piano, organ, harpsichord, Clavinova 209, HX-1 Electone, and now on the new Yamaha PSR9000.

In 1992, Keenan started his Playing Hands Ministries, which is a faith ministry and a performing outreach service utilizing a solo keyboard concert/program format of religious and inspirational keyboard music.
