Biography
Donald E. Gibbs serves as Keyboard Technician at Morehead State University. In this position, he maintains the pianos and harpsichords in the Department of Music.
Mr. Gibbs received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from John Brown University and has completed extensive course work in Wood Technology and Fine Woodworking at the University of Cincinnati. He has been a Registered Piano Technician with the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) since 1985 and has been a test examiner in the PTG for 15 years. Mr. Gibbs has conducted seminars at local and state PTG conferences.
Mr. Gibbs worked in Grand Piano Research and Development for the Baldwin Piano and Organ Company. From there, he went on to establish the Gibbs Piano Company, LLC, a piano restoration business in Cincinnati that has operated for over 25 years. His restoration business is nationally known for the manufacture and installation of piano soundboards. He has rebuilt grand pianos for the top performance venues and teaching studios at numerous colleges and universities, including such schools as the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music, Ohio State University, University of Kentucky , Miami University and Interlochen Center for the Arts.
