Black Gospel Ensemble to celebrate 40 years at MSU -- With Homecoming at Morehead State University less than a month away, Dr. Ritta Ridley Abell is getting more and more excited about the 40-year anniversary reunion of the Black Gospel Ensemble. [more]
Three to be inducted into Alumi Hall of Fame -- Three alumni will be honored in a special ceremony which will be held during Morehead State University's Homecoming 2008, set for Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 16-18. New members will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Crager Room of the Adron Doran University Center. Tickets are $18 per person. [more]
MSU Alum Wins Metropolitan Opera District Audition -- Three Kentucky student singers took different paths to the winners' circle of the Kentucky District round of the Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions yesterday at the University of Kentucky's Memorial Hall. [more]
Trusty Receives Scholarship to Aspen -- Andrea Trusty, a 2004 Morehead State University graduate, has been awarded a full tuition scholarship for study and performance at the 2006 Aspen Music Festival summer program. [more]
Flippin Honored by Kentucky Arts Council -- Morehead State University faculty retiree Jay Flippin has been awarded the Artist Award by the The Kentucky Arts Council. [more]
Hudson Achieves National Board Certification -- Morehead State University alumnus Alicia R. Hudson earned the teaching profession’s top certification by achieving National Board Certification in 2005. Hudson, formerly of Jackson, teaches music at Overdale Elementary in the Bullitt County School District. [more]
MSU Music Alum Receives Teacher of the Year Award -- Bonita Reed of Brandenburg, has taught music at James R. Allen Primary since 1971. She has recently been given the honor of Fourth District Elementary Teacher of the Year. Reed hastaught in grade levels from K- middle school chorus and also worked with preschool music programs at church. [more]
Jay Flippin and Alumni Jazz Band to Perform at Memorial Hall -- The Jazz Arts Foundation and WRFL-FM will present pianist Jay Flippin and MAMA's Band saluting local jazz musician Paul Olson in a concert that will benefit New Orleans area musicians affected by Hurricane Katrina on Sunday, September 25th at 7PM in Memorial Hall at the University of Kentucky.
