Dr. Nabb Releases Solo Recording -- Dr. Nathan Nabb, Assistant Professor of Music at Morehead State University, has released his first full-length solo recording thanks to an MSU Faculty Creative Production Grant. [more]
Grant Funds Music Exchange Program in Brazil -- Morehead State University, Marshall University and two Brazil Universities (Universidade de Federal de Goias and Universidade do Estado de Catarina) has been awarded a $500,000 grant for the U.S. Brazil Higher Education Consortia program. [more]
Dr. Little Makes Debut at Kennedy Center -- Dr. Ricky Little, associate professor of music at Morehead State University, made his conducting debut at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in February as a part of the “Our Lincoln” celebration presented by the Kentucky Humanities Council and the University of Kentucky Opera Theatre. [more]
Baird Winds to be Featured at 'Live at Five! -- The final performance of the Live at Five concert series will be Friday, May 8, at the Rowan County Arts Center, 205 East Main Street. [more]
Dr. Little Performs on 'The Bob Edwards Show' -- Dr. Ricky Little, associate professor of music at Morehead State University and assistant conductor and soloist with the American Spiritual Ensemble, performed with the ensemble as guest artists on “The Bob Edwards Show,” a nationally acclaimed syndicated radio talk show. Music Faculty Release Digital Recording -- Members of the Morehead State University Department of Music have released a digital recording as a result of a grant project. The grant funding was provided by the Research and Creative Productions Committee in the MSU Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. [more]
Dr. Miles Served as Editor, Featured Presenter -- Dr. Richard Miles, professor of music and director of bands at Morehead State University, served as editor and compiler of the Volume VII text of the internationally recognized series, “Teaching Music through Performance Band” released by GIA Publications. Dr. Oyen to Teach, Perform at LSM -- Morehead State University’s Dr. David Oyen, associate professor of music, will serve as bassoon teacher and performer for the 27th annual Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Festival (LSM), which will take place June 21 to July 19 at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. Music Faculty to Play at Lexington's Public Library -- Some members of the Morehead State University Jazz Faculty will be the featured entertainment as the Lexington Public Library continues its "Jazz: Live At The Library!" series. Tanya Bromley Named KMEA State President -- Morehead State University's Tanya M. Bromley, supervisor of student teachers and lecturer in the Department of Music, has been elected to serve a two-year term as the Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA) State President. [more]

Dr. Miles Receives Award -- Dr. Richard Miles, professor of music and director of University Bands, was named Outstanding International Contributor by Phi Beta Mu International Bandmasters Fraternity for his significant contribution to the profession as the compiler and editor of the multi-volumn text, Teaching Music Through Performance. Rigsby, Wells Capture IBMA Award -- Don Rigsby is starting this day as an award winner. At the 17th Annual International Bluegrass Music Association Awards, held last night at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tenn., Rigsby shared the “Album Of The Year” honors with other artists for a collaboration entitled “Celebration Of Life: Musicians Against Childhood Cancer.” [more]

Jay Flippin and Alumni Jazz Band to Perform at Memorial Hall -- The Jazz Arts Foundation and WRFL-FM will present pianist Jay Flippin and MAMA's Band saluting local jazz musician Paul Olson in a concert that will benefit New Orleans area musicians affected by Hurricane Katrina on Sunday, September 25th at 7PM in Memorial Hall at the University of Kentucky. Hall -- Don Rigsby, director of Morehead State University's Kentucky Center for Traditional Music, has been invited by a country music legend to participate in a special three-part program through the prestigious Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
