Healthcare conference set for April in Morehead
Morehead State University’s College of Business and Institute for Regional Analysis and Public Policy will host a
conference, “Transforming the American Healthcare System,” on April 20, at the Morehead Conference Center.
The conference will bring together a number of prominent speakers to discuss the many pressing healthcare issues facing our nation and region. Topics will include national, state, and local perspectives on health systems reform, universal healthcare and health information technology. The keynote topic, New Generation Healthcare for Kentucky, will feature invited speaker, Lt. Gov. Dan Mongiardo, MD.
There will be two additional sessions led by Jim Frogue, program director from Newt Gingrich’s Center for Health Transformation, and Andrea Maresca, legislative director from the National Governor’s Association.
A formal panel debate session is slated for discussion surrounding the promise and the pitfalls for Universal Healthcare versus Private Healthcare. Panelists will include: Michael T. Rust, president and CEO, Kentucky Hospital Association; Dr. Richard P. Lofgren, UK Healthcare; and Dr. Ewell G. Scott, physician and past president and medical director of the Morehead Clinic.
The conference is scheduled from 1-8 p.m. Registration fee is $25 per participant, which includes dinner and reception.
