Homecoming king and queen candidates announced

Morehead State University will crown its 2009 Homecoming Queen and King during halftime ceremonies of the football game, which begins at 1 p.m. in Jayne Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 24.

The winners will be named from the five candidates competing for each title.

Among the nominees for Homecoming queen are:

Lindsay Rae Adkins of Ashland is the daughter of Ray and Debbie Adkins. A junior organization and interpersonal communication major, she is sponsored by the BCM.

Brittany Harris of Mt. Sterling is the daughter of Belinda Harris. A senior middle school education major, she is sponsored by Delta Sigma Theta.

Ashley Rose Standafer of West Liberty is the daughter of Jeff and Kim Standafer. A senior nursing major, she is sponsored by Delta Omicron Chapter of Delta Gamma fraternity.

Jennifer Steele of Paris is the daughter of Paul and Wilma Gibson. A senior elementary education major, she is sponsored by Kappa Delta Pi.

Dustin Withrow of Grayson is the daughter of Robert Withrow and Robin Trimble. A senior elementary education major, she is sponsored by Pi Kappa Phi.

Nominees for Homecoming king are:

Wilson Gabbard of Morehead is the son of Randy and Linda McCleese and Mike and Charlene Gabbard. A biology major, he is sponsored by the Student Alumni Ambassadors.

Glenn Means III of Mt. Sterling is the son of Glenn and Shelia Means. A psychology major, he is sponsored by Chi Omega.

Alan Pleiman of Louisville is the son of Jack and Cheryl Matthews and Dave Pleiman. A Theatre major, he is sponsored by Theta Alpha Phi.

Jarrod Portwood of Redfox is the son of Pamela Portwood and Scott Shell. A paralegal studies major, he is sponsored by the Student Programming Board.

Matt Wells of Grayson is the son of Brett and Cindy Wells. A business management major, he is sponsored by Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE).
