MSU to host OVC Soccer Championship

By winning the Ohio Valley Conference regular season, Morehead State University will host the 2009 OVC Soccer Championship Nov. 5, 6 and 8 at Jayne Stadium.

MSU and UT Martin will both have first-round byes. The tournament will get under way on Thursday, Nov. 5, at 5 p.m. with Tennessee Tech playing Eastern Illinois University and in the second game that night at 8 p.m., Murray State will square off with Eastern Kentucky.logo-ovc-web

The Eagles will play the winner of the Tech/EIU game in the first semifinal at 5 p.m. Friday while UT Martin will face the winner of Murray State/Eastern Kentucky at 8 p.m.

The championship game is set for Sunday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m.

To accommodate participating teams, OVC and visiting university officials and fans, changes have been made in parking arrangements.

MSU’s Wellness Center will have adjusted hours. The center will open at 6 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 5 and 6, and close at 3 p.m. All evening classes at the center will be cancelled on both days. The Wellness Center will operate on a regular schedule Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7 and 8.

The Wellness Center and AAC parking lots, and parking in the area of Allen Field, Sadler Courts and Downing Hall will be used for paid parking for the tournament. Faculty, staff, and student vehicles will have to vacate these areas no later than 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5.

There will be no parking of student, faculty or staff vehicles in the Wellness Center parking lot after 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, except for Wellness Center patrons during the hours of operation on Friday, Nov. 6, 6 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Cars not associated with the tournament remaining in this lot after 3 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 5 and 6, will be subject to ticketing and towing. The Wellness Center lot will be open to regular parking again after 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8.
McClure Pool will close at 2 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 5 and 6. Pool events for Saturday, Nov. 7, will take place as scheduled.
