The Bluegrass Biennial art exhibit open through July 28
Showcasing the wealth of visual art in Kentucky, the Bluegrass Biennial: A Kentucky Juried Exhibition will be held through July 28, in the gallery of the Claypool-Young Art Building on the Morehead State University
campus.
David Knight, director of exhibitions and collections at Northern Kentucky University, selected 42 artworks out of the 200 submitted for consideration. Inspired by both the quality and quantity of visual art created in the state, the exhibition will display a range of artistic production from across Kentucky.
"The strength of the exhibition truly rests in its diversity, from the types of artists included which run from self-taught to graduates of Master of Fine Art programs as well as the artwork selected which also ranges from the traditional to the truly contemporary," said Jennifer Reis, gallery director. Art media featured includes painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, drawing, textiles, and ceramics.
The 36 artists in the exhibition are: Keiko Akiyama, Crestwood; William Andrus, Lexington; C. Wesley Allen, Lexington; Christine Barker, Morehead; Carolyn Boyd, Morehead; Joel Feldman, Lexington; John Flavell, Morehead; Jill Frank, Louisville; Virgil Henle, Louisville; Joel Klepac, Nicholasville; Ann LeGris, Mays Lick;

Scheduled for the summer of 2008, the next Bluegrass Biennial will include a juror from another region of Kentucky, and will continue the same spirit of partnering with local and university organizations.
