Course Location
The classroom on Friday evening is held at Morehead State University (MSU), in 305 Allie Young Hall. A Saturday and Sunday skill riding is held at the MSU commuter parking lot beside the Heating and Water Treatment Facility on Hwy. US 60. Time

How to Register
- By Phone (credit or debit card only) -- Call Morehead State University (MSU) Office of Continuing Education, 8:00 am- 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday, at (606) 783-2875. If calling after hours leave a message and your call will be returned within 24 hours (when possible).
- By Mail - Send your completed registration form to: Office of Continuing Education, 307 Allie Young Hall, Morehead, KY 40351. Enclose a check, money order, or credit or debit card information. Do not send cash.
- By Fax (credit or debit card only - not a secure line) - Fax your completed registration with credit or debit card information to Office of Continuing Education at (606) 783-9145.
- In Person - Come to MSU, Allie Young Hall Room 307, 8:00 am- 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday.
- Payment - When registering for a class, payment in full is due within (5) five days of registering. If payment is not received within (5) five days, you will be removed from the class without further notice.
Course Cancelation Policy
If you cancel a course prior to the start of the course, we will gladly issue a refund. PLEASE GIVE US AS MUCH ADVANCE NOTICE AS POSSIBLE SO THAT WE CAN FILL THE OPEN SEAT.
No Refunds - Refunds are not issued within the start of a course or after a course begins. Refunds are also not issued if you drop or do not pass a class. If you are unable to attend a course, substitutions are encouraged.
- Low-Enrollment Refunds - 100% refunds are made for courses that are canceled by the University. In most cases, we will notify you at least 24 hours in advance of a cancellation. Refunds will be processed as timely as possible.
Basic and Experienced Rider Course Information
The Kentucky Motorcycle Rider Safety class is for non-riders, new riders, or someone wanting a refresher course. During the course, you will be taught to maneuver and operate a motorcycle in a controlled, off-street environment. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a waiver for the skills test to obtain your motorcycle license. Most insurance agencies offer 10% - 20% discounts to persons completing the course. Motorcycles and helmets are furnished to each student. The course is a minimum of 16 hours. All classes meet on Friday, 6:00 - 10:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. All classroom and skills hours must be attended in order to successfully complete course requirements.
What you will need for the Basic Rider Course
- Long sleeve shirt or jacket
- Long, sturdy slacks
- Full-fingered gloves with a vinyl or leather palm
- Over-the-ankle shoes or boots
- Eye Protection
What You Will Need For The Experienced Course
- Long sleeve shirt or jacket

- Your own street legal motorcycle, (including proof of insurance and registration)
- Valid Permit
- DOT approved helmet (will be provided if you do not have one)
