FACULTY SPOTLIGHT

Music Faculty, Jazz Piano  "MSU is unique because students get one-on-one interaction with their professors, who are accomplished artists in the region and abroad.  Many larger schools can't offer this kind of attention.  At MSU, we don't allow students to fall by the wayside.  Instead, we help foster their musical growth and artistic development by coming alongside them in classes, rehearsals, and lessons, in ways that faculty at other institutions can't.  I love it here at MSU, and I think you will too!"

UNIVERSITY ORCHESTRA

Faculty

In the continuing effort to provide the most comprehensive music program in the region, the Department of Music is excited to announce the revitalization of the University Orchestra.

Under the direction of Christina Hartke-Towell, BME Indiana University, this ensemble consists of college students and regional musicians, and rehearses each Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. in Baird Music Hall. Members of the orchestra also have the opportunity to perform chamber music and perform in the pit orchestra for the annual music theatre production.

All interested musicians are invited to participate.  For additional information or questions contact Christina Hartke-Towell at 606.784.1823 or by email, chtowell@roadrunner.com.

Music Performance in Jazz Studies and Bachelor of Arts in Traditional Music, Versailles, KY "I feel as if MSU truly prepares you to be a practical / working musician. More importantly, how to practice! When you leave MSU, you should be able to feel confident on your instrument. I already have been utilizing my skills from MSU in the Lexington area."
