SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES


There are a multitude of scholarship opportunities that are available to students applying to Morehead State University. More information may be obtained by referring to the 2009-2010 MSU Scholarship Guide.

Non-Traditional Student Scholarship

Full-time non-traditional undergraduate students. Recipients shall maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

KCTCS Transfer Scholarship
(recipient pays equivalent to 12 hours KCTCS tuition instead of MSU tuition).

Be admitted to MSU as a transfer student from any institution in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) AND meet BOTH of the following requirements:

1. Have completed at least 36 hours of college coursework; and
2. Have a cumulative college GPA of 3.5 or higher;

- AND –

Submit a completed application packet, including application form and transcripts, by the March15 priority deadline. Note: Students should apply
as early as possible to ensure consideration, as funds are limited for these scholarships. If funds are exhausted for this category, priority will be given to qualifying students with the highest GPA figures and with the earliest date of submission of completed application packet.

NOTE: Recipients of the KCTCS Transfer Scholarship who are concurrently enrolled full-time at MSU and a KCTCS institution with at least six hours at MSU pays MSU tuition equivalent to KCTCS tuition for MSU
hours.

Criteria for renewal:
Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
NOTE: May NOT be awarded in addition to other scholarships.

Nelson and Wilma Grote Scholarship

For students from KCTCS Institutions who transfer to MSU. Recipients shall have completed at least 60 credit hours and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 and be unconditionally admitted for study at MSU and transfer in good standing. The student(s)
must earn a minimum of a 2.75 GPA for the first 30 credit hours earned at MSU and a 3.0 GPA on the remaining credit hours leading to graduation from MSU.

Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship

Awarded to in-state Phi Theta Kappa members transferring to Morehead State University. To be eligible to student must have completed graduation requirements from a KCTCS Institution with a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average and a minimum 20 ACT composite. One scholarship per school will be offered. Recipients must maintain a
3.0 cumulative grade point average, continuous full-time enrollment, and residency in University housing for renewal.

Transfer Scholarship ($2000 per academic year)

Be admitted to MSU as a transfer student from any accredited college or university AND meet BOTH of the following requirements:

1. Have completed at least 24 hours of college
coursework; and
2. Have a cumulative college GPA of 3.5 or higher;

- AND –

Submit a completed application packet, including application form and transcripts, by the March 15 priority deadline. Note: Students should apply as early as possible to ensure consideration, as funds are limited for these scholarships. If funds are exhausted for this category, priority will be given to qualifying students with the highest GPA figures and with the earliest date of submission of completed application packet.
