SONA - On-line Research Sign-up System
Students in Introductory Psychology and other psychology classes can participate in research studies, research alternatives, or some combination of both activities. Students should consult their instructor for the types of research alternatives approved for their class section.
How to Sign-Up for a Research or Research Alternative -
In order to sign-up for research studies and research alternatives go to the on-line psychology research sign-up system at: http://moreheadstate.sona-systems.com. You will need a User ID and password to access the SONA system (see below).
Obtaining a SONA User ID, Password, and Identity Code [do this only once]
(1) Go to http://moreheadstate.sona-systems.com
(2) Click on Request an account here at the lower left-hand side of the screen
(3) Carefully READ the information that appears and then fill in the required fields
Select your course from those listed
Click on Request Account
(4) Check your email for your User ID, password, and 5-digit Identity Code because SONA will email you this
information.
IMPORTANT: Be sure to provide SONA with the correct email address in Step 3 (above). Otherwise you will not receive a password and you will not be able to login into the system. Also, make sure that your email account is not over quota (i.e., full).
VERY, VERY, VERY IMPORTANT: You will need to bring your Identity Code with you to every research study or research alternative for which you sign-up. Therefore memorize it, carry it with you at all times, or stamp it on your forehead (just kidding on the last one).
Logging into SONA [do this every time you wish to sign-up for a research study or alternative]
(1) Go to http://moreheadstate.sona-systems.com
(2) Enter your User ID and password, and click on Log In
How to View/Sign-up for Studies, Check Credits to Date, Edit Your Profile, and Logout
(a) Click on Studies to view research studies or research alternatives for which you can sign-up. Click on a specific study to view information about that study (e.g., how many credits it is worth). Be sure to carefully READ the study information. If you are interested in signing-up for the study, click on View Time Slots for this Study at the bottom of the study information.
(b) Click on My Schedule/Credits to (i) view studies for which you have signed-up, (ii) cancel a sign-up, or (iii) view the number of credits you have earned to date.
(c) Click on My Profile if you wish to change your email address or your password. Don't forget to click on Update at the bottom of the screen if you do make changes.
(d) Click on Logout to logout.
