Morehead State University’s President and Mrs. Wayne D. Andrews hosted more than 400 friends of MSU for the 20th annual Spring Gala on Saturday, April 28.
The Gala reception and dinner was held in the Adron Doran University Center. The reception featured a silent auction. A live auction was held later in the evening.
Following dinner, guests strolled to Button Auditorium and were entertained by MSU’s version of the hit television series “Dancing with the Stars.” The dance competition, “Dancing with the Stars of MSU,” featured students and alumni vying to be the winners.
The duo of Darrell Conway and Kayla Henderson of Owingsville were the winners.
MSU’s 18-piece orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Roosevelt Escalante, assistant director of choral activities, was in high gear as they sang and performed.
This year’s show was produced and directed by Greg Wing, associate professor of music, along with Natasha Davis, assistant professor of dance.
President Andrews thanked the presenting sponsor of the event (Booth Energy), along with the other 36 corporate and various individual sponsors. He also recognized members of the annual giving society, “Circle of Excellence.”
This year, more than $100,000 was raised at the gala. Proceeds from the event will be used to fund the greatest needs of the University through the MSU Fund for Excellence.
The 21st Annual Spring Gala is scheduled for April 27, 2013.
