Summer Classes & Opportunities

Whether you are a current MSU student, a new MSU student, or a student visiting from another institution, we can help you make this summer productive, as well as fun! MSU offers a wide range of college courses (online and traditional) in a variety of academic programs.

New Students (Fall 2016)

The summer before your freshman year is full of excitement. MSU provides great opportunities to get ahead before you have even officially started your college career.

SOAR: Orientation for New Students

New freshman or transfer students enrolling for the summer and/or fall semester are encouraged to participate in the summer  Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) program. Your attendance at  SOAR is the next step to becoming a MSU student. At  SOAR you will learn more about MSU, register for fall classes, meet other students, faculty, and staff who are excited to welcome you to the MSU family! Parents are strongly encouraged to attend. There is no fee to register.

In order to provide the best service, there are a limited number of spaces for each program. Spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  Register online.

Success Academy (June 20 - July 29)

The  Success Academy is open to all first year students. The Success Academy gives you the opportunity to complete two college courses prior to your first fall semester.

Local Tourism

While you are in town, check out MSU's own Eagle Lake,  Kentucky Folk Art CenterKentucky Center for Traditional Music, and  Eagle Trace Golf Course. Physically, the University is located in the foothills of the  Daniel Boone National Forest in Rowan County. Cave Run Lake is just a short drive away.
