ATTENTION MSU UPWARD BOUND MATH & SCIENCE SENIORS
The Kentucky Association of Educational Opportunity Program Personnel (KAEOPP) announces its annual scholarship competition. Upward Bound students are invited to compete for a $1,000 scholarship which will be awarded for the 2008-09 academic year. All Upward Bound Math & Science seniors are eligible to apply for these scholarships. However, our UBMS program can only nominate one student for this scholarship. Please be sure to get your application in!
The links below include a scholarship application and criteria for the scholarship. You must complete and return the application and all other requested information listed on the Criteria Sheets to the MSU Upward Bound Offices in order to be considered for the scholarships.
The deadline for receipt of all materials to the Upward Bound office is 4:30 p.m., May 3, 2008. Late materials will not be accepted.
You are strongly encourage each of you to apply for these scholarships. If you have any questions, please call the Upward Bound office at 606-783-2611 or 1-800-5UPWARD.

Summer 2008 - It will be here before you know it!!!
Summer 2008 is rapidly approaching! If you're currently enrolled in UB make sure you have your summer form in to us as soon as possible. If you need summer forms please call us or go to the Forms page. If you would like to see pictures from last summer @ http://www.myspace.com/MSUUB.
The May Return Trip is scheduled for May 10th. Buses will drop students off in front of Radar Hall. See the signs on front doors of Radae to find your classroom for the day. This Return Trip will be very important because you'll get your Summer Handbook, go over all the happenings of the summer program and sign up for roommates.
Scholar's Bowl 2008
Scholar's Bowl was a great success. Our teams placed 4th and 5th. Ryan Bucker was selected to participate in the KAEOPP All-Star's Team. They competed in Atlanta, GA on April 19th and placed first - going undefeated in the SAEOPP Scholar's Bowl Competition. Congratulations Ryan!!!!

Interested in Joining?
It's still not too late to join UB this year. If you are interested in being a a part of the UB fun be sure to submit an application for this year. See our application page. You will need to complete this and get all forms to your guidance counselor as soon as possible. Recruitment begins in August and September applications are accepted on a revolving basis. Student selection will happen sometime in the next few weeks. We will fill all spots with eligible students as spots become available. To ensure acceptance get your application in as soon as possible. Congratulations to all our new students!!!
Congratulations!!!
Special congratulations go out to the students who participated in TRiO ThinkQuest this summer. Both teams, Greek Mythology (Morgan Fultz & Michael Bortles) and Remodeling Mars (Chad Wells & Tanner Stevens), made it to Quarterfinals and one team, Remodeling Mars, made it to Semi-Finals. The judging is now finished and even though out teams didn't win any prizes we are very proud of both of our teams! If you are interested in TTQ you can check out the TTQ website, and see all the winners from the past seven years.
Both teams will be traveling to Atlanta, GA in February to craft their sites into ThinkQuest International sites. Good luck to all of you!!!!
Software Just for You!
Upward Bound recently purchased software called My Student Edge for all of its participants. If you didn't get a chance to check it out at the October Return Trip you can send an email to upwardbound@moreheadstate.edu and we'll send you the appropriate access codes. Only Upward Bound Students can use this software. This program will help with a variety of test preparation, college searches, career searches, scholarship searches, resume builder, information on financial aid, advice on all sorts of college related topics, and much more! If you've already registered with My Student Edge make sure you use it to its fullest potential!
