Math & Science Center

High School Students from Eastern Kentucky can become part of an environment that nourishes their interests in mathematics and sciences, motivates them to achieve far beyond their expectations, and supports their belief in themselves and their abilities.  Participants in the summer program will have the opportunity to experience an interdisciplinary curriculum providing an introduction to the excitement and methodology of scientific research during a six-week residential stay on our campus.

Summer Field Trip
This summer we'll be travelling to Bowling Green, KY and Nashville, TN!

Each year the UBMSC takes two trips.  The first trip is open to all eligible math science students at the end of the summer.  Sometimes the UBMSC will travel with the UB Classic programs.  One example of this type of trip was our trip to Washington DC during Summer 2008.  Other summers the UBMSC will take a trip to a destination that deals with careers in math and sciences.  In the past we have traveled to destinations like Sea World and Space Camp.

After the summer program a few hard-working UBMSC Students get an additional hands on trip to a location that also deals with math and sciences.

This research trip is for students with the top scoring research projects during the summer.  During August of 2008 this years top research project winners traveled to the Bad Lands in South Dakota!  Previous research trips have been to Florida, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, North Carolina, and Georgia to participate in and learn more about research related fields.

Pictures can be seen below of  previous student research trips.
