SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES


There are a multitude of scholarship opportunities that are available to students applying to Morehead State University. More information may be obtained by referring to the 2009-2010 MSU Scholarship Guide.

Family Foundation Memorial Scholarship

 

One $3,000 scholarship for veterans/guardsman/reservists (PDF) will be awarded nationwide per year, for the duration of the grant, without regard for district boundaries. The scholarship is for veterans, including members of the National Guard and Reserves, seeking new skills in order to be more competitive in the job market. The one time $3,000 award may be used for undergraduate courses, accredited degree or certificate programs, including online schools.

AM VETS Annual Scholarship

AMVETS annually awards scholarships to veterans/active military, their sons, daughters or grandchildren. A son, daughter or grandchild of a deceased veteran is also eligible. Awarded on the basis of academic excellence and financial need, the scholarships go to deserving high school seniors, high school JROTC students and veterans pursuing a higher education.

The following scholarships, funded by the AMVETS National Service Foundation, are awarded annually:


• Six $4,000 scholarships for high school seniors (PDF) ($1,000 a year of a four-year undergraduate program or at an accredited technical/trade leading to certification or a degree; one selected from each district).
• Three $4,000 scholarships for veterans (PDF) ($1,000 a year of a four-year undergraduate program or certification/degree from an accredited technical/trade school; no regard for district boundaries).
• One $1,000 scholarship for a JROTC high school senior (PDF) entering any undergraduate programs (no regard for district boundaries).

VFW Military Family Scholarship

The VFW's Military Family Scholarship program provides fifty $1,500 scholarships each year to VFW members (minimum 2 years) who are currently serving in uniform or have been discharged within the thirty-six (36) months prior to the December 31 deadline each year.

The scholarships will be awarded to service members from each branch of service (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard) during the first quarter of the year following the deadline.

Note: Service members may elect to use the scholarship for their spouse or child to attend school.

ARMY ROTC SCHOLARSHIPS


Whether you're a college-bound high school student or already attending a college or university, Army ROTC has scholarships available. Scholarships are awarded based on a student's merit and grades, not financial need.
Army ROTC scholarships consist of:


Two-, three-, and four-year scholarship options based on the time remaining to complete your degree


Full-tuition scholarships


The option for room and board in place of tuition, if you should qualify


Additional allowances for books and fees


 

LIVING EXPENSES

 
Army ROTC scholarships also provide monthly living allowances for each school year. You can earn certain amounts depending on your level in the Army ROTC curriculum:


1st year, $300 per month


2nd year, $350 per month


3rd year, $450 per month


4th year, $500 per month
