Veterans at MSU

Dear Fellow Veterans and family members:

It is my distinct honor to introduce myself as the Director of Military Initiatives for Morehead State University. The mission of The Office of Military Initiatives is to serve and support student military and veteran personnel (and their families) in the MSU academic environment. I work with dedicated partners in Enrollment Services, Accounting & Financial Aid, and the Registrar’s Office to ensure you achieve your academic goals as seamlessly as possible.

Here is a snapshot of my background:

  • Served 32 years in the US Army; retired 2012, as a Command Sergeant Major and Commandant of the US Army Medical Department NCO Academy.
  • Married for 35 years; have three grown children.
  • Occupational Specialties held were: 91B (Combat Medic), 91Z (Medical Operations Sergeant Major), 68Z (Medical Operations Sergeant Major), and 00Z Command Sergeant Major.
  • Trained and deployed with the 10th Combat Support Hospital to Iraq (OIF 08-10).
  • Earned a Bachelor of Science at Wayland Baptist University, a Master of Arts in Military History from Austin Peay State University, and am now pursuing a PhD in Educational Psychology through Keiser University.
  • Instructed EMT, US Government, and History as an Adjunct Instructor.

I am excited to meet and get to know each of you. Feel free to come by my office in Breckenridge Hall, Room 303E, across from the LTC Alan R. Baldwin Veterans’ Center. You can tell me how we’re doing, let me know how I can help you, or we can just sit and swap war-stories. Either way, please stop by. I can also be reached at 606-783-9267 (office) or 606-356-4239 (cell).

Congratulations on your commitment to further your education at Morehead State University. I hope you are as proud as I am to be an MSU Eagle Vet.

Very respectfully,

David J. Litteral

Director of Military Initiatives
