How do I join the center?
All new members must complete applicable forms, which can be obtained at the front desk of the Wellness Center.
Who can join?
Faculty, staff, students and spouses, food service personnel, ROTC, and retired faculty and staff and their spouses. Dependents (under 18), due to liability and safety reasons, are not allowed to join unless they are an enrolled MSU student. Current Wellness Center Members may sponsor a person of their choice through our Plus One program. Use of the walking/jogging track is available to the community at no charge.
Why can't my child join?
Liability and supervision issues. You must be at least 18 years old or an MSU Student to use the facility. If you are an MSU Student who is under the age of 18 please notify the staff and obtain parental consent forms. Guests, Community walkers and Community aerobic participants must be at least 18 years old to use the facility.
When can I use the facility?
During all regular operating hours. Regular hours are posted in the facility, and on our website. Monthly calendars are provided at the front desk giving special hours, including semester breaks, holidays, and summer hours.
How much does membership cost?
Full time benefit eligible faculty/staff and Military Science personnel: Free Annual
Membership
Full time or part time non benefit eligible F/S: $120 annually
Retirees: $120 annually
Spouses: $120 annually
Students (enrolled in at least one class): Free membership per semester.
"Plus One" member: $240 annually
Can I pay my membership fee in payments?
All membership fees must be paid in a lump sum, cash or check. However, spouses of full-time faculty or staff may take advantage of payroll deduction for membership fees with the faculty or staff member's permission. There will be no refund for any reason on any fees paid to the Wellness Center. This includes, but is not limited to, assessment fees, locker rental, and/or membership fees (if applicable).
How will I know when to pay?
Approximately one month prior to your expiration date you will be sent a letter indicating it is time to renew your membership. You may pay your membership to the staff member at the front desk of the Wellness Center, who in-turn, will write you a receipt. Please pay your membership fee before your expiration date occurs to eliminate any disruption in services. You will not be permitted to workout past your expiration date.
Who do I make the check out to?
MSU Wellness Center. Checks for assessments and membership dues must be separate due to separate accounts.
Will you give me an exercise program?
Yes, everyone who has an assessment gets their own personalized program to fit their needs. This is included in the assessment fee.
What tests are performed during a physical fitness assessment?
We assess your heart rate, blood pressure, body composition, height, weight, flexibility, cholesterol, push-ups, sit-ups (crunches), lower body muscular strength and endurance, and cardiovascular endurance. This is a useful tool for members to see their current fitness level and it helps track progress.
Do I have to do all of the physical assessment if I have physical problems that keep me from doing some of it?
No, we can skip any part of the assessment that you feel uncomfortable with or that you cannot do, (because of medical reasons) but please get a doctors recommendation on what you can and cannot participate in. Enrollment procedures must be completed in full before an assessment can be performed.
How much does it cost to be assessed?
Full Time benefit eligible Faculty & Staff and Military Science Personnel: No charge (1 per year) Additional assessment during same year - $15.00
Full Time non benefit eligible F/S : $25.00
Part Time non benefit eligible F/S : $25.00
Students (enrolled in at least one class): $15.00

Do I have to do the exercise program you give me?
No, it is only a suggestion or guideline to go by, but you must follow our safety standards.
Will someone show me how to use the equipment?
Yes, facility orientations are available to every member. We will show you how to use each piece of equipment. Always feel free to ask for help, that is what we are here for. Someone will always be supervising the exercise floor to assist you.
Who will see my medical history and assessment results?
Only Wellness Center staff has access to member files, which are to remain confidential. Medical history is only required of members completing an optional assessment.

I was previously a member, why am I not still in your computer?
Memberships over three years old with little or no participation recorded are purged from the system to free up computer server space.
