Inclement Weather Plan

We will be closely monitoring the weather forecast during the week leading up to commencement.  Should the forecast call for inclement weather on May 8, we will move all ceremonies indoors into the Academic Athletic Center (AAC), located across the street from Jayne Stadium.  A final decision on whether the ceremonies will be held outdoors will be made on May 5, 2021.  An email will be sent to everyone participating in commencement to confirm the location of the ceremonies.

Check-in will begin an hour prior to the start of your ceremony. You will need to line up according to your last name, signs will be posted. Temperature checks will be conducted at the door prior to entering the building.

Parking passes are not needed. Parking is available in the lot adjacent to the AAC and designated areas around Jayne Stadium.

Masks and Social Distancing

You may wear your own mask or one we provide, but masks must be properly worn (covering your mouth and nose) for the duration of the ceremony. Social distancing must also be maintained. There will be no handshakes or hooding as you walk across the field/stage to pick up your diploma cover.

Reader Card

You will receive a reader card when you check-in. This is used to read your name as you walk across the field/stage and also for the photographer. If you would like your photos from the photographer you will need to complete the back of the card. Your card will also include your row and seat number. Once you have received your reader card you will be directed to your seat in the stadium and should remain in your seat until the ceremony begins.

Name Pronunciation

If you would like to discuss how to pronounce your name you will have the opportunity to speak with Dr. Laurie Couch after you check-in. Please let us know you would like to speak with Dr. Couch and a staff member will direct you to where she is located.

The ceremony will be livestreamed.  You will receive an email with the livestream link prior to the ceremony to provide to your friends and family. The link will also be available at

Two photos will be taken. One as you cross the field/stage to pick up your diploma cover and one as you exit the stadium/arena. Once you have walked across the field/stage you will exit.  You will not return to your seat. You will be directed to the designated area to take a photo where you can remove your mask before exiting.
