  • Opportunity to have a graduate assistant support research related to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).
  • Opportunity to attend in-state workshops on pedagogy as funding is available.
Ambassadors are champions for excellence in teaching across campus and especially within their college. The basic duties for Ambassadors include:
  • Attend two planning meetings per semester.
  • Write at least one article per semester for the Teaching Tuesday newsletter.
  • Plan and present one pedagogy workshop on campus per academic year.
In addition, based on expertise and interest, Ambassadors will focus on one or two additional tasks:
  • Help plan and implement new faculty orientation.
  • Write a series of articles or be a regular columnist for the Teaching Tuesday newsletter.
  • Serve as editor of the Teaching Tuesday newsletter with student worker support.
  • Provide one-on-one peer mentoring including review of syllabi and classroom observations.
  • Facilitate a professional learning community (PLC) focusing on best practices in teaching.
  • There are eight Ambassadors.
  • Each college has two representatives.
  • There can be no more than one representative per academic discipline.​
  • Each Ambassador will serve for two years.
  • Terms begin in January of one year and run through December of the following year.
  • Half of the ambassadors will begin their terms in January of even numbered years and half will begin their term in odd numbered years.
  • Full-time faculty members who have five years of experience teaching in higher education.
  • Full-time faculty members who have three years of experience teaching in higher education plus two additional years of relevant professional experience.
  • Full-time faculty meeting the criteria for this initiative nominate themselves.
  • Each nominee must complete and submit the application along with a current vita.
  • Current ambassadors serve as a committee of the whole to review applications and make recommendations to the provost regarding new ambassadors. Current ambassadors cannot be in the applicant pool, but can reapply in the next cycle.
  • Ambassadors will be named upon review by the provost.
  • Fall Convocation - Call for applications announced.
  • Oct. - 1st Monday - Application due via email by 11:59 p.m.
  • Oct., Nov. and early Dec. - Applications reviewed by current ambassadors.
  • Before Christmas Break - New ambassadors selected and notified.
  • Spring Convocation - New ambassadors are announced and their two-year term begins.
