Final Cut: A Bootcamp for Filmmakers

Final-Cut-E.pngPresented by the Craft Acadmy, Final Cut: A Bootcamp for Filmmakers is a one-week residential camp for Kentucky high school sophomores. This camp will help empower students to purse interests in creative expression including documentary filmmaking, journalism, social media, drone video and vlogging. Blending a hands-on approach to teaching with a challenging project-based curriculum, the camp creates a captivating learning experience. Participants will work together to write, direct and shoot their own short documentary film.

  • Ages : Students entering 8th and 9th grade in Fall 2018; male and female
  • Number of Participants: 16
  • Participant Notification: May 18, 2018, Acceptance RSVP due by May 25, 2018
  • Program Cost: $600, payment due by June 1, 2018

Student Projects

  • Human interest interview project - digital storytelling, interviewing, writing and recording vocal narration, research and effective use of primary sources
  • Historical documentary project (Ken Burns style): primary resources, photo manipulation, writing historical narration, researching and recording
  • Final group project- student inspired documentary - Working in small groups campers will produce a 10 to 12-minute professional quality documentary film. The film will be premiered to families and guests on the final day of camp and then posted to Vimeo.
