Out-of-State Scholarships

  • Students residing in reciprocity counties automatically qualify for in-state tuition. Reciprocity counties in Ohio include: Adams, Athens, Brown, Gallia, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Pike, Scioto and Vinton.
  • College credit hours completed prior to high school graduation, including Eagle Scholars courses, do not affect scholarship eligibility.
  • If you are receiving the Non-Resident Merit Scholarship, and are being charged instate tuition because all of your courses are ONLINE or all your courses are at one of our regional campuses, your scholarship will be reduced as follows:
    • Tier 1 = $7,000
    • Tier 2 = $4,000
    • Tier 3 = $1,500.
 

Honors Scholarship

Designated meal plan, $1,000 per year for books at the University Bookstore and a $1,500 one-time study abroad allowance. Selection is based on academic achievement, including GPA, test scores, challenging coursework, leadership and service experiences, awards and recognitions, essay, sample of work and interview. To apply, submit a completed Honors Application Packet, admission application form, transcripts and test scores by Dec. 1.

 

Black Achiever Scholarship

This scholarship offers full tuition to new incoming freshman who have completed the Black Achievers Program in Cincinnati, Ohio. Applicants must have a composite ACT score of 18 or higher and an admission index of 500. To apply, submit a completed admission application packet, including admission application form, transcripts and test scores and a completed Diversity Scholar Application Packet with recommendation from the Program’s Senior Cluster Leader and copy of your Black Achievers Scholarship Packet or Portfolio by Dec. 1.
 

Non-Resident Merit Scholarship - Tier 1

This scholarship offers $10,000 per year to non-Kentucky resident, new incoming freshman. Applicants must have at least a 3.75 unweighted high school GPA and a composite ACT score of 28 or higher. To apply, submit a completed admission application packet – including admission application form, transcripts and test scores – by March 15.
 

Non-Resident Merit Scholarship - Tier 2

This scholarship offers $7,000 per year to non-Kentucky resident, new incoming freshman. Applicants must have at least a 3.5 unweighted high school GPA and a composite ACT score of 24 or higher. To apply, submit a completed admission application packet – including admission application form, transcripts and test scores – by March 15.
 

Non-Resident Merit Scholarship - Tier 3

This scholarship offers $4,500 per year to non-Kentucky resident, new incoming freshman. Applicants must have at least a 3.0 unweighted high school GPA and a composite ACT score of 21 or higher. To apply, submit a completed admission application packet – including admission application form, transcripts and test scores – by March 15.
 

Reciprocity Merit Scholarship - Tier 1

This scholarship offers $7,000 per year to non-Kentucky resident, new incoming freshman from a reciprocity county (see notes above for clarification.) Applicants must have at least a 3.75 unweighted high school GPA and a composite ACT score of 28 or higher. To apply, submit a completed admission application packet – including admission application form, transcripts and test scores – by March 15.

Alumni Scholarship

This scholarship offers $1,000 per year to any new incoming freshman who is a child, grandchild or spouse of an active MSU alumnus. Applicants must have a composite ACT score of 18 or higher and an admission index of 500.
