Transfer Scholarships

Students residing in reciprocity counties automatically qualify for in-state tuition. Reciprocity counties in Ohio include: Adams, Athens, Brown, Gallia, Jackson, Lawrence, Meigs, Pike, Scioto and Vinton.
  • College credit hours completed prior to high school graduation, including Eagle Scholars courses, do not affect scholarship eligibility.
  • If you are receiving the Non-Resident Merit Scholarship, and are being charged instate tuition because all of your courses are ONLINE or all your courses are at one of our regional campuses, your scholarship will be reduced as follows:
    • Tier 1 = $7,000
    • Tier 2 = $4,000
    • Tier 3 = $1,500.
 

Kentucky Transfer Scholarship

This scholarship offers $1,500 - $4,000 per year to new transfer students admitted to MSU, having completed at least 24 hours non-developmental college-level credit. Applicants must have at least a 3.00 cumulative college GPA. To apply, submit a completed application packet, including application form and transcripts, by June 15.


Award Tiers

  • 3.50 GPA - $4,000 per year
  • 3.25 GPA - $2,500 per year
  • 3.00 GPA - $1,500 per year
 

Non-Resident Merit Scholarship - Tier 1

This scholarship offers $10,000 per year to new transfer students. Applicants must transfer to MSU having completed at least 24 non-developmental, college-level credit hours and must have at least a 3.75 cumulative college GPA. To apply, submit a completed admission application packet, including admission application form, transcripts and test scores by June 15.
 

Non-Resident Merit Scholarship - Tier 2

This scholarship offers $7,000 per year to new transfer students. Applicants must transfer to MSU having completed at least 24 non-developmental, college-level credit hours and must have at least a 3.5 cumulative college GPA. To apply, submit a completed admission application packet, including admission application form, transcripts and test scores by June 15.
 

Non-Resident Merit Scholarship - Tier 3

This scholarship offers $4,500 per year to new transfer students. Applicants must transfer to MSU having completed at least 24 non-developmental, college-level credit hours and must have at least a 3.0 cumulative college GPA. To apply, submit a completed admission application packet, including admission application form, transcripts and test scores by June 15.
 

Kentucky Coal County College Completion Scholarship

This scholarship offers varying amounts to Kentucky transfer students from Bell, Floyd, Harlan, Johnson, Knott, Letcher, Magoffin, Martin and Pike counties. Transfer students to MSU must have completed at least 60 college credit hours. To apply, submit a completed admission application packet, including admission application form and transcripts. Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship

This scholarship offers $1,000 per year to active Phi Theta Kappa members who transfer to MSU, having completed at least 24 college credit hours. Applicants must have at least a 3.75 cumulative college GPA. To apply, submit a completed admission application packet – including admission application form, letter of recommendation, transcripts, and complete the general scholarship application – by June 15.
 

Alumni Scholarship

The MSU Alumni Scholarship offers $1,000 per year to any student who transfers to MSU having completed at least 24 college credit hours who is a child, grandchild, or spouse of an active MSU alumnus. Applicants must have at least a 3.00 cumulative college GPA. To apply, submit a completed admissions application packet, including admission application form, transcripts, and test scores by June 15.
 

Reciprocity Merit Scholarship - Tier 1

This scholarship offers $7,000 per year to transfer students from a reciprocity county (see notes above for clarification.) Applicants must transfer to MSU, having completed at least 24 hours non-developmental college-level credit and must have at least a 3.75 cumulative college GPA. To apply, submit a completed admission application packet, including admission application form, transcripts and test scores by June 15.

Reciprocity Merit Scholarship - Tier 3

This scholarship offers $1,500 per year to transfer students from a reciprocity county (see notes above for clarification.) Applicants must transfer to MSU, having completed at least 24 hours non-developmental college-level credit and must have at least a 3.00 cumulative college GPA. To apply, submit a completed admission application packet, including admission application form, transcripts and test scores by March 15. Total value: $6,000 over four years.) Applicants must transfer to MSU having completed at least 24 hours non-developmental college-level credit and must have at least a 3.50 cumulative college GPA.
