Healthy at the Rec
We have worked diligently over the last few weeks to ensure we follow the Kentucky Department of Health “Healthy at Work” and “Fitness Center Guidelines” to create a safe environment to have people back in the Recreation & Wellness Center.

Yes, on Nov. 20, 2020, Governor Andy Beshear has mandated that gyms require patrons to wear masks at all time, including while exercising. It is also a University policy that a person wear their mask anytime they are inside a campus building, no exceptions. Face shields do not qualify as a face covering. A person must wear a cloth mask over their nose and mouth. Please use this link to see how masks should be worn: Team KY - Proper Face Covering.
Yes. Each person will have their temperature taken upon entering the facility. Temperatures will be checked by infrared thermometer pointed at a person’s forehead, no exceptions. Any person who has a temperature 100.4 or higher will not be allowed to enter the recreation center. Any person who refuses the temperature check on the forehead will be denied entry and could have their membership/access suspended.
Yes. We ask that people do not gather in groups and maintain at least 6 feet of distance from other users and staff members. We have placed social distance markers throughout the facility.
Once we reach capacity, we ask people to form a line outside the main entrance on the sidewalk in front of the building. Members will not be allowed to wait inside the building due to social distancing guidelines.
  • Users will be allowed into the facility on a 1 and 1 basis once capacity is reached.
Anyone who had an active membership with us when we closed due to COVID-19 will have their membership reactivated on July 6.
  • Semester Memberships have been extended until August 31.
  • Annual Memberships have been extended until November 30.
  • Monthly memberships will be reactivated on July 6 with the next credit card draft occurring on July 15. Our regular monthly billing policy will remain in place upon reopening.
Yes, we are accepting new members. New members will be required to provide a phone number and email to ensure we have the proper contact tracing information for the health department.

Yes the pool is open for use to all students, faculty, staff and members. We are not accepting guest passes at this time. Only those with membership to the facility are able to use the pool. Memberships are not available for minors.
Our Eagle Buddy swim pass, swim lessons and pool parties are cancelled until further notice.

Yes, locker rooms are available for use and some showers are available for use. Towel service is not available at the recreation center and we encourage all members to bring their own towels.
Masks must be worn at all times in the locker rooms, except when actively using the shower.
 
  • Please notify a recreation staff member if you would like to have your personal items removed from your locker. We will hold your locker until we can allow locker room use and provide a credit for the length of closure.
Any member who had a locker rental when the facility closed in March of 2020 due to COVID was provided credit that can be used for other services provided by the recreation and wellness department. Members who had a locker will be given advanced registration for lockers when the locker rooms are opened. All members will have the ability to purchase lockers after the advanced registration period.
 
Due to social distancing guidelines, the recreation and wellness staff will not spot any members during their lifts. Members may spot each other.
  • We encourage users to “lift smart” and perform exercises that do not require a spotter.
