In the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Traditional Music program at MSU, you will learn about traditional music forms and culture from both a historical and contemporary perspective.

You will study bluegrass, old time, country, ballad singing, blues, Celtic, western swing and more while receiving hands-on experience through performance opportunities, outreach events with experienced faculty members, and interaction with musical artists and professionals in the industry.

Your classes will primarily take place in the Kentucky Center for Traditional Music (KCTM), where you'll have access to a large collection of music archives and a professional recording studio.

You will be prepared to continue your education in graduate school or pursue a careers as a performer (soloists in small and large ensembles) or a music industry specialist (retail, publishing, technology and management). A minor area of study is required for this degree.
