STATEMENTS OF INTEREST

The following members of Staff Congress have been accepted nominations to run for Staff Congress leadership as follows:

Chair, Shana Savard-Hogge

Members of Staff Congress,
I am so pleased to accept this nomination and would be honored to be chosen as the Chair of Staff Congress.

As Chair, I will facilitate the sharing of information and ideas. I have worked hard over the past year to serve all staff in my role as Chair of the Benefits and Compensation Committee. I want to continue the work we have begun in order to allow the foundation for a better overall experience for staff. I would like to see this work expanded and as Chair I would make sure the work continues to move forward.

I am well suited for the leadership position of Chair. I have been a full-time employee at Morehead since 2005. My position requires the coordination of activities across multiple departments, outside agencies, and amongst both faculty and staff. I interact with most every department, unit, or college on campus and understand the processes that make the university work. I work very hard to maintain great working relationships with everyone and make sure to go the extra mile to do what is right.

I am excited to bring my ability to connect services, ideas, and people together to make Morehead State University an even greater organization. I promise to promote the sharing of information through transparency and communication. I am ready to do the work necessary to help MSU become an extraordinary organization.
I would appreciate your vote and thank you for your consideration. I look forward to continuing my service to MSU.
Sincerely,
Shana Savard-Hogge

Vice-Chair, Amanda Holbrook

Dear Chair and fellow Congress members,

I am pleased to submit my interest in the position of Vice-Chair for MSU’s Staff Congress. I was not expecting to be nominated, and I am so honored that someone chose to put my name forth for this position. It is important that those in Executive Leadership use their position and voice to advocate for all staff, and I am confident I can be a voice for all if elected to this position. I am fully prepared to execute the duties of Vice-Chair as listed in the By-laws, and, most importantly, I am eager make a difference for everyone at MSU.

I would be honored to serve as Vice-Chair of Staff Congress. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Amanda Holbrook

Vice Chair, Laura Rucker

To be elected as Vice-Chair of Staff Congress would be an opportunity to for me to serve Staff Congress and the staff of Morehead State University in a new way.

Secretary-Treasurer, Laura Rucker

Serving as Secretary/Treasurer for Staff Congress since 2017 has been rewarding and educational. I would love the opportunity to continue serving in any way that I can.

Secretary-Treasurer, Andrea Stone

To my fellow Staff Congress Representatives:

I ask for your vote in the election for Secretary/Treasurer and feel I am able to effectively execute the duties of the office. I have experience serving in similar roles through other committees on campus and within the community. On these committees I have taken notes and attendance, created & disseminated the minutes, and set the agenda.

I currently serve on the Benefits and Compensation Committee which works with HR to make recommendations related to benefits, personnel policies, workload management, etc. I chose this committee because I feel it is important to be involved in decisions related to the health and well-being of the staff. If elected, I would be able to promote these recommendations through avenues that are uniquely available as a member of the Executive Council.

Prior to joining Morehead State, my profession involved conflict resolution and effective argument of a position. I believe this experience makes me well-suited for the role. I understand that my opinion is not the only opinion. Listening to all sides of an argument to understand the other perspective is the best way to work towards a solution. I also learned how to interact with individuals who don’t share that belief, where compromise is not an option. I believe, in those situations, I can express my opinion in a manner that is professional but firm.

In my current role as Director of Procurement Services, I work closely with faculty and staff. The functions of my job are tied to many other processes on campus. One initiative the Benefits and Compensation Committee has undertaken is campus process efficiencies. By improving these processes, we feel it will ease the workload of those employees who have taken on more job duties. For this project to be successful, it will take cooperation throughout the entire campus, because many of the processes touch more than one department. I want to ensure the recommendations are implemented in a way that is sustainable and this office would put me in that position.

If elected, I will do my very best to make meaningful contributions to Staff Congress and the University. I want to be more involved and take on a more active role in creating positive change for the University.

Thank you for consideration of my nomination.
