“Scott is always willing to help even when it isn't part of his job. He goes above and beyond to help everyone. So thankful we have him at MSU! “

March

Patty White
“Patty is a business Cashier in the Office of A & FS. During the pandemic she has done an exceptional job keeping our office going and ensuring deposits are completed timely as well as many other things. It has been challenging during this time for everyone and she really jumped in to assist with other processes with a great attitude and provides great customer service to our students and staff always. Her dedication to MSU is that to be commended. “
Sandra Hunter
“Sandy is a business Cashier in the Office of A & FS. During the pandemic she has done an exceptional job keeping our office going and ensuring deposits are completed timely while also assisting the Provost Office. It has been challenging during this time for everyone and she is always there and doing anything asked of her. She provides great customer service to our students and staff. Her dedication to MSU is that to be commended.”
Tim Sloan
“On Tuesday, Feb. 23, a virus attached to my computer at the end of the workday. Tim was contacted and eliminated the virus, so I could get online with multiple student groups through WebEx for hours that night. Because Tim was willing to go beyond the normal work time to help me, I was able to work into the night (continuing to teach and advise groups). His efforts for going above and beyond in a time of need on the part of someone else was greatly appreciated.”- Submitted-3/9/2021 Debbie Cooper “Debbie is a wonderful asset to the Facilities department. She always goes above and beyond of all the Facilities employees. Always making sure information is shared and communicated across the department in a timely manner.”
Shannon Colvin
“Shannon will be retiring in May 2021. She has been an asset to Morehead State University for over 30 years. She has always cared about students and has worked tirelessly to help them be successful. She will be greatly missed.”
Eric McCarty, Tony Glover, and Jason Stepp
“I am wanting to nominate Eric McCarty, Tony Glover, and Jason Stepp for a staff salute. These three dedicated individuals are responsible for MSU’s ability to livestream/WebEx from classrooms on campus. They are the ones who installed and now maintain all equipment such as mics, cameras, and software in over 100 classrooms that enable our faculty to live broadcast their classes.”

June

Xavier Scott
“Xavier really did a wonderful job with his work on the Staff Regent election. As a committee member who was placed in a leadership role, he really worked to conduct a regent forum and election. These events simply do not happen, it takes lots of work behind the scenes. Xavier stepped up and did a wonderful job with his team.”
Helisha Tuerk
“Helisha really did a wonderful job with her work on the Staff Regent election. As a committee member who was placed in a leadership role, she really worked to conduct a regent forum and election. These events simply do not happen, it takes lots of work behind the scenes. Helisha stepped up and did a wonderful job with her team.”
Mary Fister Tucker
“Through VP Fister Tucker's work, additional outdoor seating has been obtained to allow employees to spend time outside and enjoy our campus for breaks or lunch. These areas will be used by students as well. Her commitment to shared governance and ability to partner with Staff Congress is appreciated.”
Lora Pace
“Lora's timeless work with FYS as well as SOAR has allowed our service to incoming students to be recognized and appreciated by parents across the region. Her mentoring of student employees is key to on campus leadership development as well.”
Rita Watkins
“Rita Watkins works so hard for the Camden-Carroll Library that she deserves a Staff Congress Staff Salute. She has been doing the workload that previously was done by three, and sometimes 4 people. She does ordering, renews subscriptions, contacts vendors, receives materials, and effectively single-handedly oversees all library acquisitions. On top of all that, she always has a great attitude. Rita truly goes above and beyond to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.”
Shanna Savard Hogge
“Shana is a true leader & incredible advocate for staff. She inspires others & has long advocated for things like process efficiencies & picnic tables, and other initiatives like supervisor evals. She’s strengthened shared governance by growing the relationship between Staff & Faculty. She works tirelessly to make MSU better. While none of these initiatives can be accomplished by one person, Shana helps move them forward by being a strong voice & inspiring others to work toward a shared vision.”

July

Harry Floyd
“Harry Floyd has done an outstanding job in his new position at Human Resources. He is easy to work with and has completed large projects in record time. I appreciate Harry's good work and look forward to working with him again.”

Carl Fultz
“After learning that MSU would need to spend additional money with a vendor to decommission old batteries tied to a replaced public branch exchange (PBX) phone system, David and Carl decided to proactively remove the old equipment from several utility closets around campus. This was a $5,300 savings to MSU, and it is appreciated! Great work guys! Darrell Smith, Executive Director Infrastructure Services, Office of Information Technology”

Dr. Caroline Adkins
“I am not sure what Dr. Adkins is doing in HR but the last few times I have requested assistance in this office, I have received outstanding service. Too often, you only hear how difficult it is to work with some offices. If you haven't worked with HR lately, you should. They are doing incredible work and should be recognized.”

Taunya Jones
“I needed to find a replacement room for a meeting scheduled on campus due to high temperatures in the building. I called Taunya and she had me squared away with a new room in ADUC in less than a minute. Thanks for saving the day!”

Rachel Frizzell
“While making an ordinary update within HR, I ended up working with Rachel Frizzell. She requested the information that was required but went out of her way to make me feel appreciated and valued as a MSU employee. It was so refreshing to take a very transactional interaction and turn it into an opportunity to connect and celebrate with someone. I am glad that Rachel is part of our HR office and I will look forward to working with her again.”

Shayla Dunn
“Shayla has provided outstanding service in the Office of Human Resources. She was able to resolve an issue that I have been dealing with for over a year. Once I requested information, it was resolved within an hour. Outstanding service was received and I am glad to work with wonderful people like Shayla.”

Omer Rhoton
“Omer is an excellent member of the Information Technology unit. He has worked to enhance employee technology experiences and always a has a positive attitude. He continues to work to make sure that questions are resolved in a manner that makes me more efficient. I always appreciate working with Omer because I know the job will be done right and I will be able to do my work more effectively.”
