During her commencement speech, she touched on the privilege it is for her and her fellow graduates to receive a college education from MSU and the importance to use it for the greater good.

“With 14 percent of this world’s population illiterate today, I, too, often take my ability to read and write for granted. As college graduates, we, really, are the lucky ones, and it is up to us to go write our own stories...literally,” she said. “We are able to use the well-rounded education we received from Morehead State University as a tool for positive impacts in our lives.”

A posthumous degree was awarded to Eric Lovely who passed away during his last semester. The degree was accepted by his brother Lance Lovely.

ROTC students were commissioned as part of the program. ROTC Commissioned Officers are Martin Davalos, Lovely; Nicholas Gage Thompson Holloway, Taylorsville; Ted William Moore, Morehead; Aaron Eziekiel Stone, Vanceburg; Madison Kimberly Witzleb, Rock Falls, Illinois; and Tyler Matthew Zaborowsky, Medina, Ohio.

Following the ceremony, the newest alumni were inducted into the MSU Alumni Association Inc. by its president, Dr. Jason Marion (04).
